Thespis
Thespis is the publishing tool La Royale Investments Pte Ltd uses to post its own videos to TikTok accounts the company owns.
About Thespis
Thespis is named after the first Greek actor, who stepped out of the chorus, put on a mask and spoke in the open. The tool works on the same principle: content made with AI is a performance, and we say so on every post. A person on our team approves each video before it is published, and the tool keeps a record of what was posted and when.
What it does
- A person on our team approves a finished video and its caption.
- Thespis shows that person a preview, the nickname of the TikTok account, and the privacy options TikTok offers for that account.
- Nothing is sent to TikTok until the person confirms the post.
- Thespis then reads the publish status back from TikTok and shows it, so the team knows whether the post went live.
How Thespis uses TikTok
The owner of a TikTok account signs in with TikTok’s Login Kit and approves the permission to publish videos. Thespis then uses TikTok’s Content Posting API to send approved videos to that account and to read back their publish status. We ask only for the permissions needed to publish and to check the status of a post. Thespis does not read an account’s followers, messages or comments.
How we label content
Every post that contains AI-generated video is posted with TikTok’s AI-generated content label switched on. Every promotional post is posted with TikTok’s commercial content disclosure switched on.
Responsible use
- A person approves every post before it is sent. Nothing is published automatically.
- The privacy level of each post is chosen from the options TikTok returns for the account.
- When TikTok reports a posting limit, Thespis stops and tries again later rather than working around it.
- Thespis posts only to accounts the company owns, and only after the account owner has approved access.
Who uses it
Thespis is used by La Royale staff to run accounts owned by the company. It is not offered to the public and has no sign-up. The owner of a connected account can withdraw access at any time.
Your data
What we receive from TikTok and how we handle it is set out in the Privacy Policy. The rules for using the tool are in the Terms of Service.
